The Kind Selfishness.

Posted by

Some believe there’s a positive side to selfishness.

Others claim there’s a thin line between selfishness and self-care. That is, the positive side to selfishness is actually, self-care and not selfishness.

So I asked myself, how will Dr Jordan B. Peterson approach this conversation of “Kind Selfishness“? He may start by asking: “What is Self?” And analytically conclude that it’s an iteration of your manifestations across time. This means the past you, present you and future you.

Now, with that in mind, let’s get back to selfishness.

What “good” are you to those around you if you’re not positioned to be useful to them across time? I’ll leave you to answer that.

Here are my two cents for the discussion. In my view, if there’s a decision to be taken to make you a better person, in a better position, to be more useful to those around you, but at the expense of being helpful to them in the manageable season (which is ephemeral), then go for it.

I’m not saying be cruel or unkind. No.

I’m saying I believe that after God, is your soul, your core values, your physical and mental health, and your personal development before you can be of good to, literally, anyone.

Prioritize getting better so you can help others. Have a fruitful weekend.

Bye,
James.
