Big Dreams? Start with a small task!

Posted by

A big dream or vision can be so great that, at times, it may seem impossible to achieve. It can be scary and even discouraging at times. And, amid life’s ups and downs, one can “conveniently” detour, unknowingly. Consistency and the repositioning and refocusing of one’s mindset are required.

This is why a vision must be broken down into goals and goals into small tasks.

I’ve realised that the excitement of achieving the first small task alone can make you want to do the next one. And the other next one. And even another task from a different category altogether. What happens to the rest of your day when you get up early, finish your morning routines, get to work on time, and even have some time to spare? And what also happens on days you sleep late, wake up late, miss the bus, show up late at work and even forget something at home? Right?

Yeah! This is because positive habits affect each other and cause your brain to release dopamine. This gives you pleasure and motivation to do even more. So start with a small task. Make your bed. Lol.

The problem here is that, as Jim Rohn will put it, “the things that are easy to do are also the very things easy not to do.”

So no matter how small a task is, I’ve learnt to condition my mind and to be disciplined. Understand that every task accomplished is a step closer to the big dream – Vision!

What tasks can you journey on? To get you closer to your incredible vision?
