Reading books is a rewarding positive habit. I currently have quite a tall reading list.
Books are great sources of information, and books have been and still are fundamental pillars for world transformations across generations.
Reading books makes one informed, expands vocabulary, improves articulation, and helps develop creative or imaginative abilities. But not just any book —great books! Yes, great books.
Many accomplished and highly respected individuals around the world are well-read. And most advise reading “many” great books because that will make one great. Let’s pause and ponder on it. Do great books really make you great?
This might be an unpopular opinion but reading great books doesn’t make you great. And regardless of how many you read.
What’s the essence of reading a hundred great books and nothing changes in your life after reading all those books? Compared to someone who reads just any book, applies its lessons and makes one positive change in their career, health or financial status? I thought about this for a while.
It then occurred to me that books are but only potentially powerful.
Being an avid reader is good, but the goal should be learning through reading and applying what is learned to make a positive change in your life. Whether to improve our creativity, fluency, diction, financial status etc., we have to read intentionally and with a practical goal.
Then we will benefit from whatever greatness is hidden in that great book!
See you soon,
James.
