A thought struck me during Vusi Thembekwayo’s interview on Impact Theory by Tom Bilyeu.
Tom asks how Vusi thinks that has made him successful despite the challenges. Your excuses are real and valid but don’t bring you progress -Vusi explained.
Then I had a conversation with myself.
No one is making light of your circumstances. No one is blaming you for the external, uncontrollable factors affecting your situation right now.
But just like Pastor Chris Oyakhilome once explained, the fact that you were born into something doesn’t mean you were born to be that thing. The fact that you were born poor doesn’t mean you were born to be poor. The fact that you were born without opportunities doesn’t mean you were born to be without opportunities.
So instead of worrying and nagging about the storms on the seas, we should focus on what we can control. That is, strategizing and adjusting our sails to pass through the storms on the seas to our final destination. The storm will come. That, we cannot control. But how do you go through it? That’s a question worth asking.
Because at the end of the day, the questions will be:
- did you become who you wanted to become?
- did you become what you dreamt of?
- did you achieve the goal?
- did you hit the mark?
I’ll end here. See you soon.
Bye,
James.
